Detroit (Become Human): An Emotional Game Journey
By Niki Wyre
Title: Detroit (Become Human)
Publisher: Quantic Dream
Platform: PS4
Type of game: Action / Adventure
Difficulty: Casual to advanced
Rating: Mature
Large replay value: Many possible endings
Detroit: Become Human will draw you in from the very beginning. The concept is that future society that relies on androids that have become very human looking, to help our society, have gone rogue.
You will play a variety of android characters throughout the game, tasks with decisions, moral choices that will affect the outcome of your story, the city and the whole in the end. If you click and point adventures, detective games, story rich adventures or button sequences, this is the game for you. Warning though.. This will pull at your heart strings like no other.
After I played it through once, I found out about this cool feature tied in to Alexa. Yes, Alexa, that annoying AI voice in devices like the Amazon Echo, Dot, Show or Fires. You can read more about it here at Playstation site, but basically as you are playing, you give Alexa commands, like she is your AI robot, asking her things like “Alexa, ask CyberLife to tell me about the woman” or “Alexa, why did (insert event) happen” etc. So obviously once I finish my gameplay for Vampyr (which I am working on), Detroit is back on again for this feature.
Be prepared to play this for hours and hours until you find out what happens to your characters next. Then play it all over again. Definite two giant geeky thumbs up. Not going to lie, I cried a few times. It’s that good. Just buy it already!
You can read more about Detroit: Become Human or buy the game on Amazon here.
If you like this game, I also suggest checking out Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls Collection HD Remastered, which came out prior to Detroit. Same decision style and interaction but different stories. Very enjoyable.
Until next time.
