I Found a 90’s Grunge / Alternative Station on Amazon Unlimited Music that is Pure MTV Nostalgia

by Niki Wyre

Missing those memories of early MTV? Perhaps those angsty lyrics or vibes of the grunge era? Do you find yourself leaning towards the radio or device when one of those songs pop on that make the 90’s flood back? Are you gliding the halls waiting for a Jordan Catalano? Are you seeing those epic videos flashing behind your eyes as you listen to them play?

If you answered yes to any of these, you really need to check out my new favorite channel on Amazon Music. A friend on Facebook posted that she told her Alexa “Alexa, play 90’s Grunge / Alternative”. Boom. It was like music heaven opened up for me.

If you missed previous posts, until recently when I got daith piercings I was unable to tolerate music for many years due to migraines, so experiencing music again is a pure blessing. Now having a whole channel on Amazon dedicated to songs of my adolescent (totally aging myself again)? Mind blowing!

So what is Amazon Unlimited Music any way? Well there are several plans out there, so it can work best for your needs. (We have Amazon Dots and Echos all through our house so single device was not going to work for us.) If you want a complete breakdown of all the plans you can visit Amazon’s complete page here.

  • First of all, if you have Amazon Prime already, you already have “Prime Music” included for free. This includes a selection of titles that are free, roughly 2 million so a good selection but not the channels, advertisement free. Nice. (Check out more details on what you get with Prime Music here.)
  • Next you have the Music Unlimited single device plan – This is only $3.99  a month currently and gives you all the benefits of MU. Tens of millions of songs, music on the go, access to tons of music channels and ability to request pretty much any song or artist on device. Works on only one device at a time. (Check out more details on the Music Unlimited Single Device plan here.)
  • The Music Unlimited Individual Plan allows you to tens of millions of songs, music on the go, music channels, requests and the freedom to listen on any device. It costs $9.99 a month but Prime members get a discount at $7.99. (Check out more details on the Amazon Music Unlimited Individual plan here.)
  • Are you a college student? You can get a special discount and benefit plan when providing documentation that you enrolled in college. This plan for Music Unlimited is currently priced at $4.99. (Check out more details on the Amazon Music Unlimited College student plan here.)
  • Do you have a big family or like to stream on multiple devices at once? The family plan is more your speed. You can have up to 6 Family members on the account and using at same time for only $14.99. (Check out more details on Amazon Music Unlimited Family plan here.)

Not sure if you are ready to commit to a plan? That is totally cool. We weren’t either but they give out 30 day free trials that you can cancel at any time if you don’t like it. However we were hooked immediately. I have to admit we even use one of our Amazon Dots in the living room to play soft music at night to keep the puppy as calm as possible with ambient noise. Blessing! (Sign up for a free 30 day Amazon Music Unlimited trial here.)

Now it’s time to kick back and enjoy your tunes. I have the two stations now I go back and forth between, regular or clean depending on company. The regular is more grungey and angtsy so I can get in more air guitar or air drumming if the mood hits (when no one is around of course. lol) So here there are.

90’s Alternative & Grunge on Amazon Music

90’s Alternative (Clean) on Amazon Music

If you want to get a non stop, commercial free music channel of nothing but the 90’s alternative, grunge and a little bit alternative pop songs, just ask Alexa. Just don’t do it too loud if you have multiple devices online in a small area… she doesn’t like that. Sorry Alexa.

Until next time,
<3 Niki Wyre
